World Record Set at Braidwood Nuclear Plant:

Located just south of Chicago, the
Braidwood Nuclear Station was in need of four new steam generators. Because of the station's role in supplying power to thousands of homes and businesses, it was urgent that downtime be minimal.

LU 597 was hired to do the work because we had a strong history of similar successful replacements throughout the world. With the upgraded and improved replacement generators each weighing 404 tons and measuring 67 ft. long by 14 ft. in diameter, experienced pipe fitters were paramount to the project's success. The Braidwood project, using up to 206 pipe fitters for a total of 153,000
man-hours of work, was finished in just 70 days -shattering the previous record
of 77 days for similar replacements!.
