The Pipe Fitters' Local 597 Welfare Fund provides comprehensive health benefits to working and retired members and their families.
The Fund's reserves exceed two years of Fund expenses. These reserves are necessary to protect working member's benefits during periods of low employment, to fund the cost of catastrophic claims and to help keep retiree medical benefits affordable.
Annually, the Welfare Fund pays approximately $100 million in benefits to over 20,000 active and retired members, spouses and dependent children.
